Pay a sign looking penalty
You have been issued a fixed penalty notice for reading a private sign in violation of the Private Signage Act.
The sign clearly stated it was private and should not be read. By reading it, you entered into a binding visual contract.
Amount due: £1.75
You must pay within 6:00. Failure to pay may result in:
- a strongly worded letter
- installation of an even more private sign
- public disclosure of your sign-reading behaviour
What if I only glanced at the sign?
A glance constitutes a read under Schedule 4 of the Private Signage Act. The penalty applies regardless of reading duration, comprehension level, or whether you found it funny.
Can I appeal?
No. The sign told you not to look. You looked. Then you followed a URL to this website. You are clearly not great with instructions. The penalty stands.
What if I am blind?
Then who is reading this? £1.75.
